Shivervein Contribution to 2HAC vol.13

Last weekend, I participated in a community music making event called the Two Hour Album Challenge (2HAC). I had never heard of it before, but got wind of the event through Christer McFunkypants Kaitila by way of Twitter. I had arranged a set of community compilation albums in the past – and wanted to jump-start my creativity for the year… so this effort was pretty perfect for me to join.

The idea behind the compilation is that everyone takes 2 hours to create a track. Only 2 hours allowed – along with a random theme! I ended up live-streaming mine over Behance if you’d like to see the process. There are definitely additional workflow tasks I would like to do on the track such as tweak the EQ, fix the overall mix, and adjust the mastering bits… but for 2 hours of work I’m pretty happy with it.

I initially developed the Shivervein concept back in 2012 for February Album Writing Month as a rougher, separate entity from An Early Morning Letter, Displaced. Since then… I’ve used both projects somewhat interchangeably but am considering putting more effort into Shivervein this year – especially considering all of the many drastic changes I’ve experienced over the past two years.

The result of this entire community endeavor is a 66 track (!) compilation album that is available for free: Technology [2HAC Volume 13] – but any purchase of the album is meant for charity and the proceeds go toward the Angel of Hope animal rescue (hence the feline imagery).

I’ve embedded a link to my Shivervein contribution, “Ceramic Burn”, below if you’d like to give it a listen:

I hope to work on more content like this now that my book is complete!
