Book Announcement: Mastering Adobe Animate 2021

I’ve been working on a new Animate book during the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s now available for preorder!

This book is meant to be more of a resource around advanced techniques and nitty-gritty bits of information – in fact, the original title was something like “Adobe Animate Professional Techniques” as it focuses more on aspects of the software not entirely covered in other books.

The book includes some project-based content in later chapters, but is more geared toward becoming familiar with underlying workflows and structures rather than direct approaches to creating content. I see it as a companion book to more well-established texts around Animate for those who seek additional resources – but have included enough fundamentals that beginners will be able to make good use of it as well.

I’m very pleased with how it all came together!

You will begin by getting up to speed with what you need to know about Adobe Animate quickly. Next, you will learn how to get started with Animate as a creative platform and explore the features introduced in the most recent version of the software. Moving on, you’ll consume and produce media assets for multiple platforms through both publish and export workflows. Following this, you’ll delve into advanced rigging techniques and discover how to create more dynamic animation with advanced depth and movement techniques. You’ll also find out how to build projects such as games, virtual reality experiences, and apps for various platforms.
