Adobe MAX 2016 in San Diego

Another Adobe MAX will soon be upon us and I am thrilled with what is coming up in the next few days! I’m writing this account of major event activities the day before my departure so everything is pretty well set in stone at this point.

Also – Happy Hallowe’en ;)

Having MAX in a city other than Los Angeles is very welcome. I’ve never visited San Diego before but am very much looking forward to spending a few days in what I’ve heard is a lovely city.

Adobe Animate CC: Introduction to Animation and Interactivity

Completely sold out for months now – I’m giving a 90 minute lab each day of the conference on Adobe Animate CC. It’s an introduction to some of the basic things people need to do when approaching Animate CC and we may even get into some upcoming features! (Just kidding. We will totally get into new features)

Adobe Animate CC is going to have a huge presence at MAX this year… so if you weren’t able to get into any of my labs – there are many other sessions, labs, and workshops to check out during the conference.

Adobe Animate CC is a professional tool used to create a diverse variety of project types including rich animations, compelling interactives, award-winning games, popular mobile apps, and more. Learn how to get started creating your own engaging animated and interactive content across multiple platforms using Animate CC in this lab.

Joseph Labrecque, interactive content designer and developer, will guide you through the following topics:

  • Capabilities of Animate CC to create a multitude of project types targeting a variety of platforms
  • Latest new features in Animate CC that you can use to really push the creative envelope
  • Time-tested tips and techniques that let you work fast and produce compelling content for your projects

Just as with last year, after the conference has ended, I will publish the (80+ page!) workbook for others to benefit from.

MAX Live Streams

There will be a live stream of the MAX keynotes and also a number of special guests during the conference that can be accessed over at http://www.adobelive.com/.

On Wednesday the 2nd from 6:00pm – 7:30pm, myself and a group of other experts will be demonstrating tips and techniques (and maybe even new features) live from the floor. I’ll be talking up some of the great things about the SWF file format. Really!

Read more details about the full live stream schedule in this post!

Adobe Community

On November the 1st from 5:00-6:30 Pacific will be a live stream of some great tips and tricks from a set of Adobe Community Professionals during the Community Summit.

acp_summit_live

Just go to the above address and log in as a guest to attend.

Adobe Education

There is also an event being put on by the Adobe Education team Tuesday morning. This half-day event is a special opportunity for educators to hear from great speakers on topics impacting education such as: virtual and 3D reality, the creative canvas, and preparing students for the creative economy.

If you’re an educator in San Diego on Tuesday morning, check it out!

See you there!

I look forward to seeing a bunch of people from both the Adobe Community Professional and Adobe Education Leader communities during MAX this year! I know a ton of fellow authors from Lynda.com / LinkedIn Learning, Pluralsight, Peachpit, and more will be on site as well. It will be wonderful to reconnect.

Also – if you see me around during the conference please do say hi. I love meeting people from the wider community as well!

Adobe MAX 2015 – Flash Professional Resources

Giving Flash Professional Another Look (via @clockmaker_bot)

Had a really productive MAX this year with one session and a lab given twice – meaning that I presented across all three days of the conference. I was positive going into MAX about where Adobe is taking the application… but after talking with attendees and discussing the product with Adobe employees and community members I am absolutely convinced that the next year will be AMAZING for Flash Professional no matter what platforms you are targeting today.

The main drive of this post though, is to bring a bunch of resources together regarding my speaking experience at MAX this year, and around Flash Professional in general. So without further ado…

max15workbookI want to thank you all so much – my Tuesday lab was a full session and the Wednesday lab was great fun. Thanks to all those who attended these labs!

Autumn 2012 Presentations

I have a lot of presentations coming up for the next two months and it’s often helpful to high-lite them in a blog post like this. Normally at this time of the year, I detail all of the Adobe MAX related sessions I’m involved with… and we all know that ain’t happening. In place of MAX this year, I have the following to look forward to!

I am quite EXCITED for all of these!!!

October 24 2012 | 7:00pm MT: Ignite Denver 12

Absinthe: Artistic Rituals, Intestinal Parasites, and Psychoactive Madness!
Denver, Colorado

An artistic muse, drinking rituals for snobs, multi-functional health tonic, or the bane of sanity? Absinthe is perhaps the most misunderstood spirit in history – one thing is for sure though… it is absolutely delicious if you can find the genuine thing. Learn all about “la fée verte” and her sordid history! Let’s louche!

October 25 2012 | 5:00pm ET: Hawaii Flash User Group

Getting Familiar with Adobe Edge Animate
Worldwide via Connect

With the rising popularity of using HTML & Friends for motion and basic activity on the web – wouldn’t it be great if there was a tool with familiar controls and workflow concepts that could be leveraged toward the creation of such content?

Edge Animate is a new tool from Adobe which targets HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to create the kind of compelling web experiences people have gotten used to (through use of the Adobe Flash Player); but with the ability to target the native browser environment across desktops and devices regardless of plugin support.

This session aims to provide a solid overview of Edge Animate as a tool – and also place useful comparisons to similar applications such as Flash Professional, InDesign, and After Effects, when appropriate.

November 9 2012 | 2:10pm ET: Adobe Education Exchange Live (alongside DesignThinkers)

VideoManager: Using Flash® Technology and HTML5 together for University Media Consumption and Distribution
Toronto, Canada

VideoManager emerged at the University of Denver from the need to organize all public videos at the university in a central repository to improve tracking, management, and communication. The final outcome is a central web-based video portal used to showcase all significant public university videos.

This session is an overview of the University of Denver VideoManager application and covers:

  • Technologies involved; HTML5 and Flash Technology working together for an ideal user experience
  • Unique server configuration; ColdFusion, server-based Adobe AIR, and Flash Media Server
  • Usage by university videographers, staff and faculty contributors, and students
  • Expected teaching and learning outcomes

November 13 2012 | 11:00am MT: National Association of Government Webmasters

Getting Familiar with Adobe Edge Tools and Services
Worldwide via Connect

With the rising popularity of HTML & Friends for both motion and interactivity on the web – wouldn’t it be great if there were a set of tools and services with familiar controls and workflow concepts that could be leveraged toward the creation of such content? Wouldn’t it be killer if these tools and services were free of charge?

Edge Animate is one of these new tools from Adobe which targets HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript to create the kind of compelling web experiences people have gotten used to (through use of the Adobe Flash Player); but with the ability to target the native browser environment across desktops and devices regardless of plugin support.

This session aims to provide a solid overview of Edge Animate as a creative application – and as part of the wider Edge Tools and Services offering.
