Animate CC: Interactive HTML5 Canvas Video Projects

Since beginning this practice with the Adobe Generation Professional demo sessions, I’ve begun recording any live demos using Camtasia 9 and uploading them to YouTube. The full session with all speakers is linked below as well – but this segment has better audio and video. I also include the project files created during the session if you wish to download.

Adobe MAX 2016 in San Diego

Another Adobe MAX will soon be upon us and I am thrilled with what is coming up in the next few days! I’m writing this account of major event activities the day before my departure so everything is pretty well set in stone at this point.

Also – Happy Hallowe’en ;)

Having MAX in a city other than Los Angeles is very welcome. I’ve never visited San Diego before but am very much looking forward to spending a few days in what I’ve heard is a lovely city.

Adobe Animate CC: Introduction to Animation and Interactivity

Completely sold out for months now – I’m giving a 90 minute lab each day of the conference on Adobe Animate CC. It’s an introduction to some of the basic things people need to do when approaching Animate CC and we may even get into some upcoming features! (Just kidding. We will totally get into new features)

Adobe Animate CC is going to have a huge presence at MAX this year… so if you weren’t able to get into any of my labs – there are many other sessions, labs, and workshops to check out during the conference.

Adobe Animate CC is a professional tool used to create a diverse variety of project types including rich animations, compelling interactives, award-winning games, popular mobile apps, and more. Learn how to get started creating your own engaging animated and interactive content across multiple platforms using Animate CC in this lab.

Joseph Labrecque, interactive content designer and developer, will guide you through the following topics:

  • Capabilities of Animate CC to create a multitude of project types targeting a variety of platforms
  • Latest new features in Animate CC that you can use to really push the creative envelope
  • Time-tested tips and techniques that let you work fast and produce compelling content for your projects

Just as with last year, after the conference has ended, I will publish the (80+ page!) workbook for others to benefit from.

MAX Live Streams

There will be a live stream of the MAX keynotes and also a number of special guests during the conference that can be accessed over at http://www.adobelive.com/.

On Wednesday the 2nd from 6:00pm – 7:30pm, myself and a group of other experts will be demonstrating tips and techniques (and maybe even new features) live from the floor. I’ll be talking up some of the great things about the SWF file format. Really!

Read more details about the full live stream schedule in this post!

Adobe Community

On November the 1st from 5:00-6:30 Pacific will be a live stream of some great tips and tricks from a set of Adobe Community Professionals during the Community Summit.

Just go to the above address and log in as a guest to attend.

Adobe Education

There is also an event being put on by the Adobe Education team Tuesday morning. This half-day event is a special opportunity for educators to hear from great speakers on topics impacting education such as: virtual and 3D reality, the creative canvas, and preparing students for the creative economy.

If you’re an educator in San Diego on Tuesday morning, check it out!

See you there!

I look forward to seeing a bunch of people from both the Adobe Community Professional and Adobe Education Leader communities during MAX this year! I know a ton of fellow authors from Lynda.com / LinkedIn Learning, Pluralsight, Peachpit, and more will be on site as well. It will be wonderful to reconnect.

Also – if you see me around during the conference please do say hi. I love meeting people from the wider community as well!

Adobe Education Leaders – Summit 2016

AEL16

It’s that time of year again – July means another AEL Summit is upon us. This year, we’ll be meeting in New York City for the North American summit and I’m really looking forward to connecting with other AELs and members of the Adobe Education team! I’m able to give a short talk this year as well – which should be very interesting considering the past 5 years or so…

Surviving Industry Disruption in Higher Education

Joseph Labrecque

This talk will explore how industry upheaval can affect institutional teaching and learning systems which make use of technology for media delivery and student interaction. With the tsunami of change introduced by mobile devices, adaptations in streaming technology, preferred file formats, and delivery platforms – there is a lot at stake when considering how systems must adapt to these changes to remain useful and beneficial. How is it possible to not only survive such monumental disruption – but even excel at adapting to the new order… while carefully weaving previous workflows, technologies, and standards into a changed world?

Call-To-Action: Embrace change without killing the past

It’s been a very busy year for me – and the Summer months are no exception to this. I’m hopeful that this summit will also provide some refreshment and additional energy to help me along, as it always seems to do!

Those interested in following along with the AEL Summit this year can keep an eye on #AEL16.

Speaking at Adobe MAX 2016

Just a note that I will be speaking at Adobe MAX in San Diego this year… on Animate CC, of course!

2016-05-20_09-01-56

I’m scheduled to provide a lab which goes over the basics of animation and interactivity within Adobe Animate CC – so please do let people know that introductory sessions are available for those who are coming over from Edge Animate… who have neglected Flash Professional over the past few years… or even those new to Flash/Animate! All are welcome ;)

Flash Professional CC 2015: A New Era in Animation and Interactivity

Here is the recording and slides for my presentation “Flash Professional CC 2015: A New Era in Animation and Interactivity” for the Boulder Valley Adobe User Group.

See how Flash Professional CC lets you create assets and animations for any use case, device, browser or platform. Too often, users confuse the Flash Professional application with the Flash runtimes and believe they can target only certain browsers and devices with their content. Not so! Adobe has been enhancing the creative toolset within Flash Professional while building support for custom platforms. See what new creative tooling is now built into this premiere animation tool from Adobe – and how to use these exciting new tools to produce content which runs virtually anywhere!
