Adobe Education Summit 2020

Adobe Education Summit 2020

Every July, Adobe invites a group of Adobe Education Leaders (AELs) from across the world to join together for a Summer Institute. I’ve been attending these since becoming an AEL in the mid/late 2000’s and have never missed a one. Even those years when I’ve passed on Adobe MAX, I still made sure to join the Summer Institute.

This year, of course, is vastly different with COVID-19 and the restrictions on travel and even just getting together in smaller groups never mind ~120 AELs gathered in one place. Thankfully… Adobe is making the best out of the situation by creating a more inclusive online event out of these unfortunate circumstances.

If you are keen on hearing from K-12 and Higher Education faculty, administrators, staff, and teachers (along with speakers from Adobe as well) as they present on using Adobe technology and even general discussions around education… you are invited to join us for the new Adobe Education Summit 2020 from July 28th-30th. It’s completely no cost and open to all.

I’ll be giving a talk on “Interactive Virtual Reality using Adobe Animate” on July 28th at 12:35pm Pacific Time. So if you are interested in learning more about Animate and how to use the integrated VR platforms… please join me for that, specifically!

Adobe Animate is a fabulous tool for expressing ideas and concepts creatively through motion and interactivity. In recent versions of the software, Adobe has added a number of platform integrations that allow creatives to produce interactive virtual reality projects. This session will go over the basics of creating content in Animate and will specifically demonstrate how to easily construct virtual reality spaces to explore and interact with using various tools and workflows.

I’m also organizing a really neat mixed-media exquisite corpse project among AELs leading up to the event. It involves an integration of audio, video, motion, animation, drawing, and imagery from about 25 AEL contributions. I’ll be sure to post more about this later – it is very exciting!
