I was able to devote an entire day to working with Flex Builder yesterday and am very pleased with the experience. Having previously done work in Flex and ActionScript 3 in FlashDevelop using the Flex SDK, using a dedicated tool was very liberating. I have nothing whatsoever bad to say about FlashDevelop, but Flex Builder is a full Flex editing environment and who wouldn’t want that?
Some of the features I particularly enjoyed include; full featured DEBUGGER!, layout/design mode, full class integration and context menus, package explorer panel, and the integrated language reference. One thing that is driving me nuts though- my line numbering keeps getting turned off… anyone have any ideas?
you can find this option, pressing right button in any source code window, then select “Preferences”. In the new window select General –> Editors –> TextEditors and you will be able to check “Show line numbers” option.

I notice that in Flex Builder 2.0 Standalone plus update 2.0.l, this option(line numbers) doesn`t work for MXML files, but in Eclipse WTP 1.5.3 with Flex Builder Plugin it works Ok with AS3 and MXML files.
Hmmm… I am using 2.0.1 standalone. Perhaps I should give the Eclipse plugin a try? It’s a pretty irritating thing to have a preference of such importance reset all the time.
i had the same problem, first i unchecked “Show line numbers” section, then clicked “Ok”. I re-open preferences>general>editors>text editors and check the option again then line numbers became visible.
